It's been a while since I participated in Festival of the Trees. Even though I have a folder to save the latest calls for submission, I never seem to have time or a tree post. This time however, it's hosted by one of my blogger buddies, Brenda Clews of Rubies in Crystal, so that got my attention, and when I finally got around to checking on the details, turns out her theme is "Vision Trees,"--you know, arboreal 'entities' with whom you have an inspirational relationship--and that brought to mind one thing only for me: "The Old Climbin' Tree" from childhood, still standing in my Mom's front yard, fatter and more gnarly than it was back then(but who ain't? ;-), but still standing. And I just happen to have a sketch on hand, so it was easy. Here's a link to Festival of the Trees - 60 over at Brenda's place, and here's one to my entry at A. Decker Art.

cool pic...but watch out that stump looks like a garden gnome in disguise...
Brian,
Thanks! And not to worry, that's just a poorly drawn fireplug. :-/
"i was an ape in this tree?"
i have scratches all over my hands from pruning a tangelo tree last weekend.
your tree is nicely pruned, and even has a newspaper sticking out of its back pocket. the fire hydrant is jealous. the other trees are stumped as to the reason why.
Seraphine,
No, not pruned at all. Worn down by the constant clambering of yard-apes.
If you don't have any yard-apes of yer own, I'm sure there's some running amok throughout the neighborhood. They're cheap to bribe and you could get 'em to help you with your pruning. Save scratchin' up your drawing hand.
