"The quest of real followers of the path is just to oppose birth and death; they do not look for it in the sayings found in various sources in ancient and modern books. They just step back into themselves and bring it to mind, coolly yet keenly, at the very root and stem.
Suddenly their hands slip, they lose their footing, and they're lost: this is graduation from the study of a lifetime. Perceiving independently, like a solitary lamp, for the first time they are manifestly empowered.
They are like mountains; how could the fears of life and death shake them any more?"
~Ying-an
That being said, my post "Blockhead" is included in the July edition of Carnival of Quotes, which of course has been out for about a month, but slow-ass me, I just found out about it. As usual, this interesting variety pack of posts is hosted by Thoughts On Quotes. Inspired by quotes being the only criterion (and hopefully quality of course), there's no telling what you might find...

Pondering Activated !!!
~ Alex
Well, they say that anything everyone has ever learnt we also know, because we can drink from the source of all knowledge. I do believe that we are all connected through a collective subconsciousness. Looking at it like that, we do truly have everything we ever need to know in ourselves. A comforting thought, I think.
Sameera, thank you and thank you!
I'm interested in checking out your blog, having given it a glance.
See you later.
Alex, far out! That pondering is activated suggests to me that we have a meeting of minds! At least!
Bettina, yeah, I think everything we need to know is there - here - somewhere, and that is a comforting thought. Now, if it just wasn't so dang hard to access that! :-O
What is that critter on the wheel? A lizard?
yeah! what is that little thing in the sketch? he looked a bit froggy or something but I was wondering!
Yoga Gal and Chedwick, for one thing I should've given credit to the original artist, Alex Nino, a gifted illustrator from the Philipines(sp?), who was pretty big over here in the 80's, due to exposure in the comics magazine Heavy Metal. This sketch is my conte crayon copy of an ink drawing of his featured in that zine. As it was a stand alone end piece (or back cover, I forget) with no narration, there's no tellin' what that critter is.
Gotta go! j-o-b calls.
Thanks for stoppin' in. y'all!
Hmm, I thought it was another Hobbit!
A Hobbit! Heh!Heh! Aggie, yeah. Heh!Heh! That's a good one! Maybe that's what it is. Out there lookin' for his "precious."
;-)
Love the sketch!
You have to love using contes.
I went through a whole sketchbook one time trying to draw a person in a figure drawing class.
I had the "one" that actually turned out for years, and then moved and left it all behind! ; (
Nice work and quotes.....
Cheers to ya! ; )
Doc, thanks! Good to hear from you.
Coffee, yes, contes are great. I haven't used them in a while, but they are one of the best sketching tools.
That's too bad about leaving your drawings behind. I often regret how much of that I've done over the years.
Thanks, and Cheers! back at cha!
Yep ... I think we are all on the lookout for our "precious" Lol!
love it!!!
Aggie, I can't tell you how many times I've felt just like that...um...critter in the sketch!
Ruela, I do appreciate that.
Thank you!
